36 affordable rental units are available in Alexandria right now; here's how to apply
City updates list of committed affordable rentals monthly; applications accepted on rolling basis
Thirty-six affordable rental units are currently available in Alexandria, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, according to the city’s Nov. 4 update.
The units are reserved for low- and moderate-income households earning 30% to 80% of the area median income, with rents ranging from $1,458 to $2,558 per month.

The units are spread across 11 properties in Alexandria, with some buildings offering multiple available apartments.
Income requirements
The city’s affordable housing programs use area median income limits set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
2025 income limits for Alexandria:
40% AMI: Up to $45,920 (individual), $52,480 (family of two)
50% AMI: Up to $57,400 (individual), $65,600 (family of two)
60% AMI: Up to $68,880 (individual), $78,720 (family of two)
80% AMI: Up to $91,840 (individual), $104,960 (family of two)
Income limits are also available for larger households.

How the list works
