Dispatch records indicate 45-year-old man shot himself in leg
A 45-year-old man shot himself in the leg Sunday morning in Alexandria, according to dispatch records.
The call came in at 8:23 a.m. for a shooting near the 600 block of N. Payne St., dispatch records show. A dispatch update at 8:24 a.m. indicated the man had shot himself in the leg.
The Alexandria Police Department acknowledged the investigation about an hour later on social media, but did not confirm the shooting.
“Alexandria Police Officers are investigating an incident near the 600 block of N. Payne St.,” the department posted at 9:34 a.m. “Residents may notice increased police presence in the area.”
Police did not immediately release information about the man’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
