Alexandria police invite community to support youth through holiday drives
Toy drive Friday, Christmas tree sales begin next week
The Alexandria Police Department is offering residents two ways to support local youth this holiday season through a toy drive this Friday and upcoming Christmas tree sales.
The department’s Youth Resource Unit will host a holiday toy drive on November 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the APD satellite office in Bradlee Shopping Center, located at 3640 King Street. Collected toys will be distributed to mentees from Alexandria City High School and their families during the Youth Resource Unit Holiday Event in December.
“These toys will support ACHS mentees and their families during the holidays and show that their community cares,” the department announced on social media Friday morning.
New, unwrapped toys for any age group may be donated, though items suitable for teenagers are the greatest need. The toys will help ensure that young people connected with the Youth Resource Unit’s mentorship programs experience the joy of the holiday season.
The Youth Resource Unit works closely with students at Alexandria City High School, providing mentorship and support services throughout the year.

Starting November 28, the Alexandria Police Youth Camp will launch its annual Christmas tree sales fundraiser at 110 Callahan Drive. The sale runs through December 15, with trees available Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All proceeds from tree sales will send Alexandria youth to the police youth camp, which provides positive mentorship and enrichment opportunities. The department is also accepting donations via PayPal or Venmo at @AlexandriaPoliceYouthCamp.
