Alexandria schools to remain closed Thursday; virtual learning continues
District still assessing conditions for safe return
Alexandria City Public Schools buildings will remain closed on Thursday, with students continuing synchronous virtual learning, the district announced Wednesday afternoon.
Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt said the weekend’s snow and ice storm “created significant challenges in preparing our schools and facilities to safely welcome students and staff.” Building and bus inspections, pathway clearing and safety protocol verification are still underway.
“We will continue to assess the situation throughout the week,” Kay-Wyatt said. “Additional updates will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.”
