Alexandria to present early design for Taylor Run infrastructure project
Community meeting set for Nov. 13 to discuss stormwater, sewer stabilization plans
The City of Alexandria will present early design plans for infrastructure stabilization measures along Taylor Run at a community meeting on Nov. 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center Multipurpose Room, 901 Wythe Street.
Virtual attendance is available via Zoom. Registration is required at zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_p0KP-9_ASUiaBFNNi5XJ1g.
Project team members will present project goals, planned improvements, 30% design plans, potential construction impacts, and the preliminary project schedule. A public question-and-answer period will follow.
The Taylor Run Infrastructure Stabilization Project aims to protect at-risk stormwater and sanitary sewer infrastructure through a targeted, minimal intervention approach, according to the City.
022 and 2023, city staff worked with community members through the Stream Health Improvement Community Collaboration to develop stabilization recommendations for critical infrastructure along Taylor Run. City Council approved the final consensus recommendations in 2023, which serve as the foundation for the design.
The $2.16 million project is part of the city’s Flood Action Alexandria program. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2026 and is expected to conclude in June 2027.
