Applications opening soon for 12 affordable units in Old Town North; city updates available apartment list
Interested renters can join the Current Tidelock interest list now; the city's updated list also shows openings at more than a dozen properties with committed affordable units.

The city of Alexandria announced Tuesday that applications for 12 affordable rental units at Current Tidelock, a property at 1055 N. Fairfax St. in Old Town North, are expected to open in mid-March.
The units are part of the city’s committed affordable rental program, in which developers set aside apartments at below-market rents as a condition of development approvals. Unlike public housing or the Housing Choice Voucher program — commonly known as Section 8 — the committed affordable units do not have closed waitlists. Renters who meet the income requirements can apply directly with each property.
The Current Tidelock units are set aside for households earning up to 60% of the area median income and include one studio, two one-bedrooms, four one-bedrooms with dens, three two-bedrooms, and one three-bedroom, according to the Office of Housing. Interested households can email CurrentTidelock@bozzuto.com to join the interest list and receive notification when applications open.

The announcement came as the Office of Housing released its updated February list of available committed affordable units across the city, showing openings at more than a dozen properties with rents ranging from $1,458 to $2,558 a month. The list is available in English and Spanish.
Among units available now, studios are listed at Oakville Triangle on Swann Avenue, Alexan Florence on Wythe Street, and Southern Towers on Seminary Road, with rents between $1,579 and $1,597.
One-bedroom apartments, the most widely available unit type, are listed at eight properties. Rents start at $1,458 at ParcView Apartments on Holmes Run Parkway and go up to $1,987 at Park and Ford on Ford Avenue. Bell Old Town, The Platform, Parc Square Apartments, Carlyle Place, and The Foundry also have one-bedrooms on the list.
Two-bedroom units are available at six properties, with rents from $1,701 at ParcView to $2,183 at Carlyle Place on Eisenhower Avenue. Parkstone Alexandria on Park Center Drive has three two-bedrooms available, the most of any property in that category.
The lone three-bedroom on the current list is at Southern Towers, renting for $2,558 with all utilities included.
Income eligibility is based on household size and the 2025 area median income. For a single person, the maximum qualifying income at the 60% AMI level is $68,880. For a two-person household, it is $78,720. Higher limits apply at the 80% AMI tier, where a single person can earn up to $91,840.
Public housing and Section 8 vouchers, which are managed by the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, remain a separate track. Both programs have long waitlists and are not accepting new applicants, according to the city. Residents with questions about those programs can contact ARHA at 703-549-7115.
The Office of Housing also recently published a guide to affordable and moderately priced rental options in the city, available in Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto. An interactive map of affordable rental housing is available on the city’s Renter Resources webpage.
Interested renters should contact each property directly. The full list of committed affordable units is available at alexandriava.gov/housing-services/renter-resources. The Office of Housing can be reached at 703-746-4990.
