City council to consider FY 2027 budget guidance, paratransit fare changes at Tuesday meeting
Docket includes transportation issues, taxicab regulations and contested board appointments

The Alexandria City Council will address budget planning and transportation issues during its legislative meeting on Tuesday.
The council will consider establishing guidance for the FY 2027 budget and adopting the process for developing the operating budget and 10-year capital improvement program. City Manager James Parajon will deliver an oral report on the state of the economy.
Transportation items on the agenda include a resolution to update fares for the city’s paratransit service and a vehicle lease agreement for paratransit operations. First readings are scheduled for ordinances addressing taxicab regulations
The council will also consider writing off property tax balances of less than $20 and confirming the city manager’s appointment of a labor relations administrator. Another ordinance would make supplemental appropriations for FY 2026.
Among consent items, the council will vote on accepting an archaeological collection from the Colross estate site and receiving resignations from seven board and commission members.
The council will vote on contested appointments to several boards and commissions, including the Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee, Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee, Commission for Women, Commission on Information Technology, Historic Restoration and Preservation Commission, Sister Cities Committee and Traffic and Parking Board.
Council members will provide updates on their service with the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission and the Legislative Subcommittee.
The meeting will include a proclamation recognizing November as Epilepsy Awareness Month.
An executive session will begin at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting starting at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 301 King St. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on government channel 70, streamed on the city’s website and accessible via Zoom.
