Firefighters rescue unconscious person from 14th-floor apartment fire on Duke Street
Two-alarm fire breaks out directly across from Station 208; crews locate victim in common hallway


Alexandria firefighters rescued an unconscious person and extinguished a 14th-floor apartment fire at 5375 Duke Street late Tuesday night, according to the Alexandria Fire Department.
The department shared news of the incident at approximately 10:59 p.m. Crews from Tower 203, operating from Station 208, spotted flames from the 14th floor of the high-rise across from their firehouse as they responded.
The incident escalated to a two-alarm fire as multiple units entered the building and worked to control the blaze, which was contained to a single apartment.
Two firefighters from Tower 203 found an unconscious person in a common hallway and moved them to the stairwell, where they received medical treatment and were evacuated.
Battalion 202 assumed command of the incident.
The fire department has not released information about the person’s condition, the cause of the fire or whether other residents were displaced.
