Ricardo Roberts, 60, had been hospitalized for chronic medical conditions since Dec. 31; investigations required by law are underway
A 60-year-old man in the custody of the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office died Monday morning at an area hospital where he was being treated for chronic medical conditions, authorities said.
Ricardo Roberts, of Alexandria, died at 5:09 a.m. at Inova Fairfax Hospital, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.
Roberts had been in custody since Dec. 24, held without bond on multiple counts of violation of a protective order, the statement said. He had been receiving medical care at Inova Alexandria Hospital since Dec. 31 before being transferred to Inova Fairfax Hospital earlier Monday.
Police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will investigate the death, as required by law for in-custody deaths.
The Sheriff’s Office said it has made all required notifications and will conduct an internal review to ensure policies and procedures were followed.
