Vehicle fire closes Quantrell Avenue in Alexandria
Quantrell Avenue near N. Armistead Street was closed Monday evening after a vehicle caught fire inside a parking garage, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
Engine 208 arrived first to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in the parking garage of a high-rise on Quantrell Avenue, according to Alexandria Firefighters Local 2141. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and worked to minimize smoke spread to the floors above.
Police are assisting the Alexandria Fire Department at the scene while fire crews work to ensure the area is safe.
Authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
