On This Day in Alexandria History
On December 18, 1900, a cave-in caught several men working on the extension of Southern Railway tracks around the Hunting Creek shoreline. Most escaped serious injury, but one suffered a broken collarbone.

The library's approach to tiered line dancing classes (101 followed by 201 same day) is kinda genius for retention, way smarter than one-offs that never build momentum. I've noticed alot of community programming now schedules beginners right before intermediate, probably becuase it helps people commit to showing up for the second session once they're already there. Also love that Burke Branch is doing this alongside the film screening, seems like they're trying to capture different demographics throughout the day rather than banking on one big event.
