ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A 21-year-old Alexandria man has been charged with first-degree murder while armed in a fatal shooting in Northwest Washington on Wednesday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of 41st Street NW at about 7:58 p.m. and found a man with gunshot wounds, police said. D.C. Fire and EMS responded, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Bobby Lee Cannon, 35, of Southeast D.C.

Police said officers detained the suspect at the scene and that Jeremiah Greene of Alexandria was later arrested and charged. Detectives determined the incident had domestic overtones and that everyone involved knew one another, according to the department.

The case is being handled by the Metropolitan Police Department and will be prosecuted in the District. Greene has not entered a plea, and a charge is not evidence of guilt.
