WASHINGTON - A sellout crowd of 19,215 packed Audi Field on Friday night to watch the Washington Spirit cruise past the Kansas City Current 4-0 in a top-of-the-table matchup, capping the fastest the NWSL club has reached two sellouts to start a season in its history.

Leicy Santos scored twice and Trinity Rodman, Claudia Martínez and Rosemonde Kouassi each had a hand in the rout as the Spirit dispatched the team it finished ahead of atop last year's standings. Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver posted a clean sheet, the team's third in a row.

It was the second sellout in just three home matches for the Spirit this year, and the fourth in the past five games at Audi Field, a stretch that includes both of the club's home playoff matches last season.

Fourteen of the top 18 home attendance marks in club history have come since the 2024 playoffs, the team said. Last season, the Spirit became only the fourth women's soccer club in the world to average more than 15,000 fans per match, drawing close to 237,000 fans through the gates at Audi Field over the course of the year.

The Spirit returns home Wednesday, April 29, to face Racing Louisville FC at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last year's NWSL quarterfinals.
