ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., said Thursday he will keep pushing an artificial intelligence safety bill that a Republican senator blocked this week before the Senate left Washington.

Warner said he expects Congress to be out until after the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

Warner, an Alexandria resident and vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, asked the Senate on Tuesday to pass the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management and Security Act of 2026 by unanimous consent, a procedure that fails if any senator objects. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, objected, according to Warner's office.
