ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Department of Housing and Urban Development will be fully moved into its Alexandria headquarters by the end of the year, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership told City Council on Tuesday.

Senior Vice President Marian Marquez said HUD’s relocation to 2415 Eisenhower Ave. is bringing roughly 2,700 jobs, and counted it among the organization’s fiscal 2026 wins alongside the retention of the National Science Foundation, whose former headquarters HUD now occupies. Together, she said, the two represent 4,300 federal jobs anchored in the city.

Councilwoman Jacinta Greene asked whether there was a timeline for full occupancy, and whether it would help bring other businesses to Carlyle, where office vacancy stands at 27.7%.
