Alexandria Health Department no longer offering free COVID-19, flu tests

The department is providing flu shots only to uninsured residents and has issued guidance for the respiratory virus season

The Alexandria Health Department (ADH)

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Free COVID-19 and flu tests are no longer available for pickup at the Alexandria Health Department or city libraries, the department said Monday in its guidance for the start of flu season.

The department attributed the change to the state's supply of tests. It said tests can be purchased at pharmacies or requested from health care providers.

The department is providing flu shots only to uninsured children and adults, who are charged on a sliding fee scale. That policy has been in place since September, according to the department's website.
