ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Harold "Buck" Adams, 83, who was reported missing June 21, has been found dead, the Alexandria Police Department announced Tuesday.

Earlier Tuesday, Virginia State Police issued a notice canceling the Senior Alert for Adams, saying that he had been located. That update did not include details about his condition. APD's statement Tuesday evening clarified that Adams was found deceased.

His death came after an extensive, multi-agency search that included local, state, regional and federal partners. Officers canvassed throughout Alexandria and searched parks, trails, waterfront areas and other locations Adams was known to frequent. Community members also volunteered their time and shared information during the search.

Police did not release details about where Adams was found or the cause of death.

The department extended condolences to Adams' family, friends, neighbors and all those affected by his death.
