ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Neighborhood safety, access to affordable health care and more opportunities for young people are among the issues Alexandria residents chose as the focus of the city's next Community Health Improvement Plan, the Alexandria Health Department announced Tuesday.
The department and the Partnership for a Healthier Alexandria said hundreds of residents voted online, in person around the city and at coalition meetings. They chose focus areas within the plan's three priorities: Arlandria, Landmark/Van Dorn and citywide mental wellness.
Safety and violence prevention ranked among the top choices in both neighborhoods.
