Alexandria to host national Faith & Blue kickoff Oct. 9 at Virginia Tech's Innovation Campus

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The national kickoff for the 2026 Faith & Blue Weekend will be held Friday, Oct. 9, at Virginia Tech's Innovation Campus Academic Building One in Potomac Yard, Police Chief Tarrick McGuire told The Alexandria Brief on Friday.

The ceremony doubles as the Alexandria Police Department's first Faith & Blue prayer breakfast. Check-in opens at 8 a.m., a continental breakfast and fellowship begin at 9, and the program runs from 9:15 to 10 a.m. The department asks attendees to RSVP by Oct. 2.

The department said it has already had significant sign-ups and will publish a full list of local events closer to the weekend, which runs Oct. 9-12.

Rev. Markel Hutchins, president and chief executive of MovementForward Inc., which convenes the weekend, said his organization expects about 5,000 Faith & Blue activities across all 50 states this year.

"I can't be more eager and excited that we're bringing the kickoff to the great city of Alexandria," Hutchins said in the same interview.
