ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The city will hold its annual Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Alexandria Police Department headquarters, 3600 Wheeler Ave., marking 25 years since the attacks.

The ceremony will honor the victims, survivors and first responders, and recognize those who risked or lost their lives responding to the attacks.

The program includes a presentation of colors, remarks from Mayor Alyia Gaskins and public safety officials, and a return to quarters ceremony — a fire service tradition in which apparatus and crews are formally released back to service after a call.

It is the city's 25th annual remembrance.

The ceremony will move inside police headquarters in the event of bad weather.
