The City of Alexandria is inviting residents to share their thoughts on a planned redesign of one of the city's busiest corridors, with a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, April 7.

The forum, focused on the Duke Street and West Taylor Run Intersection Improvement Project, will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Department of Transportation & Environmental Services headquarters at 2900 Business Center Drive. The meeting will be held in-person only.

City staff will present proposed changes to Duke Street between West Taylor Run Parkway and Dove Street — a stretch that city officials say has long needed attention. The improvements are designed to enhance safety, ease congestion, improve traffic flow and expand access for all users of the corridor, including pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

Following the presentation, staff will be available to answer questions and record official public comments.

Residents who cannot attend in person may submit written comments through Friday, April 17, to project manager Anup Gautam at anup.gautam@alexandriava.gov — with "Duke Street and West Taylor Run PH Comment" in the subject line — or by mail to 2331 Mill Road, Suite 302, Alexandria, VA 22314.

For questions or disability accommodations, contact Gautam at anup.gautam@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.4155. Hearing-impaired Virginia residents may dial 711 for Virginia Relay. Language access services are available by contacting LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.3960.
