ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The City of Alexandria will hold a job fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center, 4850 Mark Center Drive, where department representatives and workforce development staff will meet with job seekers.
The city had 49 positions posted on its employment portal as of Monday, ranging from a temporary lifeguard at $18.57 an hour to a Director of Emergency and Customer Communications advertised at up to $253,368 a year.
The Department of Community and Human Services accounts for 18 of the listings, more than any other department and more than a third of the total. They include residential counselors, family services specialists, senior therapists in adult outpatient and emergency services, a cook at the West End Wellness Center and an assistant director for the Center for Adult Services posted at $150,000 to $207,000.
Transportation & Environmental Services has 10 postings, most in field and trades roles — equipment operators for the backhoe, resource recovery and sewers programs, an asphalt labor supervisor and a fleet services technician — along with a traffic engineer and a senior utilities engineer. Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities has nine, including five temporary aquatics positions and two deputy director roles advertised at up to $217,406.
Seven of the postings are at the director, deputy director or division chief level. The City Manager's Office is seeking a legislative director, posted Aug. 14 and closing Sept. 14, at up to $253,368.
The Alexandria Police Department has two listings, both administrative: a human resources and labor relations division chief and a human resources manager.
Several postings close before the job fair, including the emergency communications director on Aug. 18 and a group of positions closing Aug. 21.
