ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Creative Classics, the designer furniture showroom at 906 King St. in Old Town, has closed, and Rasmus Auctions will conduct the complete liquidation of its inventory later this month.

The online auction, listed as R260288, will start closing at 11:07 a.m. Saturday, May 16. Bidders can inspect items in person from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13. Pickup is scheduled for Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The sale will be staged off-site at 5705 General Washington Drive, Suites D and E, inside the Tile Optimal Showroom and Warehouse in Alexandria.

Rasmus described the offering as "not a typical inventory reduction" but a "full showroom event," featuring high-end pieces curated for residential, commercial and design-focused settings. Bidders will find sofas, sectionals, recliners, dining sets, bedroom suites, ottomans, lighting, area rugs, ceramics and wall art across hundreds of lots.

The store, which operated as Michelbachs Creative Classics Furniture on Facebook and at michelbachs.com, billed itself as a neighborhood boutique specializing in high-quality, American-made furniture, with most items available for customization in size, upholstery and wood species. The auction inventory includes a leather sofa and a counter table carrying the Michelbach name.

Brands represented include American Leather, Bernhardt, Copeland Furniture, Simply Amish, Gat Creek, Charleston Forge, Johnston Casuals, CR Laine, Whittemore Sherrill, Hjort Knudsen, Elran, Skagen Studios, Precedent, Canal Dover and Aspen Home. Lighting from House of Troy and Thumprints, handcrafted ceramics by Jill Rosenwald, Lawrence McRae and Door Pottery, and signed wall art from Oliver Gal and Spicher & Co. are also on the block.

Notable lots include an American Leather Carmet high-leg tufted sectional in Bison White leather, a Copeland Furniture Mansfield queen platform bed in solid American black walnut, a Bernhardt Strata square coffee table with a Black Forest marble top, and a Harlequin Pierrot queen mattress with Bluetooth-enabled positioning.

An 18% buyer's premium will be added to every purchase. Buyers must supply their own equipment, labor and transportation for removal, and no loading assistance will be provided on pickup days. Rasmus has partnered with delivery service Lugg for same-day and next-day moves; the auction house is offering a $10 discount with code RASMUS10.

The store's Facebook and Instagram accounts have not been updated since March 6. A visit to the 906 King St. storefront on Tuesday found the showroom cleared out, with no closure notice or for-lease sign posted in the windows. The Creative Classics Furniture awning remained in place above the entrance.
