Crooked Run Fermentation, the Virginia-based brewery founded in 2013, has filed an Industry Brewery Application with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority for a new taproom at 2003 Mount Vernon Avenue — the address previously occupied by Dolce & Bean, the neighborhood dessert shop that closed earlier this year.
The application identifies the business as Crooked Run Brewery Taproom and lists co-owner Leland "Lee" Rogan as a 50% stakeholder. The filing covers beer consumed on premises.
A search of the VABC Licensee Search Tool conducted this morning shows that Crooked Run Brewing LLC has also filed a separate Mixed Beverage license, currently listed as pending, for on and off premises consumption. The search tool lists two capacity entries associated with the applications: 1–100 and up to 500.
Crooked Run began as a nanobrewery started by two homebrewers, Jake Endres and Lee Rogan, which opened in 2013. The company currently operates three locations: its original taproom in downtown Leesburg, a larger taproom and restaurant in Sterling, and a DC location in the Union Market District.
Both applications remain pending VABC approval. The Alexandria Brief has reached out to Crooked Run Fermentation for comment.
