ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Fort Ward Museum will host an outdoor concert of Civil War-era music on Saturday, May 16, in honor of Armed Forces Day.

The 8th Green Machine Regiment Band, a historical ensemble sponsored by George Mason University, will perform popular songs of the Civil War on authentic 19th-century instruments. The one-hour program begins at 11 a.m. on the museum lawn.

A donation of $2 per person or $5 per family is suggested. The concert, sponsored by the Friends of Fort Ward, is weather dependent.

Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site is at 4301 W. Braddock Road. The site is the best-preserved of the Union forts that made up the Civil War Defenses of Washington.
