ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Twenty-six homes closed in Alexandria between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30, ranging from a $135,000 studio at Park Place on North Van Dorn Street to a $2.2 million townhouse on Wilkes Street in Old Town, according to data from Redfin.
The average sale price was $683,982 and the median was $472,500, across an average of 1,347 square feet, or a blended $508 per square foot.
The number of closings matched the week before, but the middle of the market dropped. The median fell $192,000 from $664,500, and the average slipped from $714,769. Four homes sold for $1 million or more, down from five. Thirteen sold for less than $500,000, up from 12.
The 26 homes were first posted at a combined $18,442,699 and sold for $17,783,535, or 96.4% of original list, the same share as the week before. Three sold above their original asking price, three sold at it and 20 sold below. They averaged 103 days from first posting to closing, with a median of 101.
The week again told two stories.
