House fire on Valley Drive injures two, road now reopened

Fire was contained to a bedroom; injuries do not appear to be life-threatening

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A house fire on the 2800 block of Valley Drive Tuesday afternoon injured two people, both of whom were transported to the hospital, Alexandria Fire-EMS said.

The fire was contained to a bedroom and quickly extinguished, preventing further spread throughout the home, according to a 6:31 p.m. update from the Alexandria Fire Department. The injuries sustained by both individuals do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

Alexandria Police posted a traffic alert at 2:03 p.m. closing Valley Drive between the 2600 and 2900 blocks during the response. A heavy police and fire presence was on scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office. There are no indications of foul play, AFD said.
