ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A stretch of King Street was closed in both directions overnight after a vehicle struck an electrical pole and left wires hanging over the roadway, Alexandria police said.

The closure runs between Beauregard Street and Chesterfield Avenue, according to an alert the department posted shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police did not say whether anyone was injured, how many vehicles were involved or when the road was expected to reopen.

Drivers in the area should expect delays and seek an alternate route until police confirm the roadway has reopened.
