ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Banned Book Speakeasy at Morrison House returns in November under a new name, which the hotel describes as the launch of a series.

The event, hosted by the hotel's restaurant The Study, runs Nov. 10-14 in its fourth edition, now called The Restricted Collection: A Banned Book Speakeasy Series. The hotel says the collection "opens with Volume 1: Scandal," drawing on books challenged for confronting sex, social convention and what some readers considered inappropriate.

Guests will be tasked with finding the Office of Restricted Literature, the entrance to the speakeasy. Inside are cocktails inspired by challenged and banned titles, a limited food menu and live piano. Which books made the list is not being disclosed in advance.

Everything on The Alexandria Brief is free to read.
