Spirit set a club attendance record Saturday, then lost in the 88th minute

A sellout of 19,215 pushed Washington past 200,000 fans for the first time in a regular season. Angel City's Maiara Niehues won it with a club-record ninth goal.

Alexandria, Va. - The Washington Spirit broke its single-season home attendance record Saturday night at Audi Field, drawing 19,215 in heavy rain and pushing the club past 200,000 fans in a regular season for the first time.

Then Angel City FC scored in the 88th minute and won 1-0.

The crowd was the Spirit's fourth sellout of the season and brought the regular-season total to 205,367 through 13 home matches, past the 186,152 the club drew all of last year. The team welcomed "Fan 200k" with confetti and a pink carpet, upgraded his seats and had him lead the "Rise Up DC" chant before kickoff.
