ALEXANDRIA, Va. — ALIVE! will hold its 45th annual StepALIVE! walkathon on Sunday, Oct. 18, at George Washington Middle School, with a goal of raising $145,000 for Alexandria residents facing food and housing insecurity.
Registration and pre-walk activities open at 12:30 p.m. at the school, 1005 Mount Vernon Ave. The walk begins at 2 p.m. on two 5K routes through Del Ray, followed by music, prizes and frozen custard from Goodies.
Organizers expect more than 450 walkers. Last year's walkathon, held Oct. 19 at the same school, raised more than $125,000 — a record. This year's goal is about $20,000 higher.
