Good morning, Alexandria.
Houston to Anchorage to Alexandria. Jharrett Bryantt started as a high school math teacher in Texas, spent nine years in the Houston schools, then ran Alaska’s largest district for four years. On Feb. 1 he takes over a division of 15,900 students — about a third the size of the one he’s leaving, and one where 15 of 17 schools were marked down this week over how student groups are performing.
The weekend is full. The national Faith & Blue kickoff and Rock The Ave today, a Hispanic Heritage dance tonight, and Paws in the Park on Sunday.
Here’s what you need to know for Friday, Oct. 9.
