Good morning, Alexandria.

The school division has put numbers on its walk zone review for the first time: 183 appeals approved, 138 denied, and 456 students newly eligible for a bus. A memo going to the School Board on Thursday also says about 15 driver jobs are open, and new stops only start on runs that have a driver.

In today's edition: a wreath was laid Sunday at the long-unmarked grave of the first Alexandria firefighter to die in the line of duty, and Morrison House is bringing back its banned book speakeasy under a new name.

Here's what you need to know for Tuesday, Oct. 6.
