Spring is bringing back some of Alexandria's most popular seasonal destinations, with two waterfront bars and a rooftop spot all open or set to reopen this month.
The Pier Bar, the floating barge bar at the foot of King Street alongside the Tall Ship Providence, kicked off the season early, reopening April 1. The bar juts out onto the Potomac River, seats up to 130 guests and serves cocktails, beer, wine and small bites.
Catboat Pizza Bar, the outdoor spot at the Washington Sailing Marina on Daingerfield Island, plans to reopen April 15, weather permitting. Now in its third season at 1 Marina Drive, Catboat plans to kick off the season by being open Wednesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to sunset, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to sunset. The restaurant serves pizza by the slice, Caesar salad, Italian sandwiches and light bites, along with beer, wine and boozy slushies.
Good Fortune, the seasonal rooftop bar atop Hotel Heron at 699 Prince St. in Old Town, plans to reopen Saturday, April 18, for its second season. Six floors up, the bar offers views of the Potomac River and serves seasonal cocktails and small bites including mini crab rolls, pimento cheese with pickled veggies and Southern country ham with hot mustard. The bar will open Wednesday through Saturday at launch, then daily starting April 19.
