Three dead after state police pursuit that began in Alexandria ends in I-395 crash

Virginia State Police say a trooper tried to stop a stolen vehicle on Stevenson Road early Monday. The car crashed on the Shirlington exit ramp. All four occupants are believed to be juveniles.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Three people died, and a fourth is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a stolen vehicle crashed on an Interstate 395 exit ramp early Monday, at the end of a police pursuit that began in Alexandria.

All four occupants are believed to be juveniles, Virginia State Police said.

A trooper spotted the vehicle at Stevenson Road and South Walker Street at about 12:45 a.m. and tried to make a traffic stop, State Police said. The vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit began.
