Alexandria, Va - Alexandria City Manager Jim Parajon and Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz will headline a public discussion on local government on Thursday, May 7, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Arlington and Alexandria City and the Arlington County Public Library.

The civic education program will explore how local leaders are navigating an evolving landscape shaped by shifts in federal funding and a new administration in Richmond, organizers said. The discussion comes just over a week after the Alexandria City Council adopted its $979.1 million FY 2027 budget on April 29.

The program runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Walter Reed Recreation Center, 2909 16th St. South, Arlington. Parajon and Schwartz will speak on "Managing Local Government," followed by a Q&A.

The event is free to attend, with free parking available at the community center. It will also stream on the Arlington County Public Library's YouTube channel.

The League of Women Voters of Arlington and Alexandria City is nonpartisan, organizers noted.

Registration is available on Eventbrite. Questions can be directed to lwvarlingtonva@gmail.com.
