Aaliyah Boose, the 14-year-old Alexandria girl reported missing last week, has been located and is safe, the Alexandria Police Department announced Friday morning.
APD posted the update to its official social media account at 11:41 a.m., confirming Boose had been found. The department thanked members of the public who shared information during the eight-day search.
"Aaliyah Boose has been located and is safe," APD wrote. "Thank you to everyone who shared information."
Boose had been reported missing March 26 and was last seen in the 2700 block of Ice House Road. Authorities had believed she was in the Silver Spring, Md., area. APD had classified her as a critical missing youth and asked the public for help in locating her.
No additional details about the circumstances of her disappearance or recovery were immediately released.
