Alexandria residents will have a chance to shape the future of youth sports in the city at a community meeting on Monday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St.
The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities will host the session to share information on how athletic facilities are currently used and allocated, review existing sports affiliate and community athletic facility use policies, and gather feedback from residents and Youth Sports Advisory Board stakeholders.
The advisory board is made up of representatives from youth sports organizations and high schools across Alexandria and meets regularly to recommend improvements to programs, facilities, and fields.
The city's youth sports programs span more than a dozen sports across all four seasons, from soccer, basketball and track to swimming, lacrosse and rugby.
Input collected at the meeting will inform future updates to both the Sports Affiliate Policy and the Community Athletic Facility Use Policy.
Residents who cannot attend may submit written feedback by email to laura.durham@alexandriava.gov through Thursday, April 30.
