ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Crilley Warehouse Executive Offices will host a reception Sept. 1 honoring four artists whose work is on display in the historic Old Town building as part of Mayor Alyia Gaskins' Art in Every Space initiative.
Gaskins will attend and speak about next steps for the program, her office confirmed. The pilot, which launched in July with receptions at Corcoran McEnearney in Old Town and AV Actions on Wheeler Avenue, is scheduled to run through Sept. 30.
The reception runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 218 N. Lee St., third floor. Light refreshments will be served, and RSVPs are requested by Aug. 28 to admin@crilleyoffices.com.
Work by Anila Angjeli, Eva Hartman, Saya Behnam and Tamika Martin is displayed in the office suite's reception area and conference room.
Owner Agnes Artemel said two neighboring businesses are also taking part. Diya Indian Cuisine, on the building's second floor, is participating in the exhibit, and Elaine's on Queen Street was an early participant.
The executive offices comprise 27 offices across the entire third floor of the Crilley Warehouse, which was built in 1896 and converted in 1976 into a mixed-use building with two restaurants, retail shops and office suites. The suites reflect the building's history as a warehouse and bakery.
Art in Every Space places original work by Alexandria-based artists in local businesses at no cost to the artist, the business or the city.
