ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A George Washington Middle School student was assaulted by six juveniles riding scooters after school Tuesday near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Walnut Street, the Alexandria Police Department said.

The student's parent decided not to pursue charges, according to a statement emailed to The Alexandria Brief on Friday by Tracy Walker, the department's strategic communications manager, in response to questions from The Brief.
