Man in stable condition after Sunday night shooting in Alexandria

A man is in stable condition after being shot multiple times Sunday night in the city’s North End neighborhood, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Swann Avenue and Oakville Street at approximately 9:01 p.m. and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was transported to a local hospital.

Detectives are continuing to gather information and review evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, police said in a statement Monday afternoon.

Authorities have not released information about a possible suspect or a motive.

The shooting occurred near the Oakville Apartments complex at 451 Swann Ave.

Police are asking residents who were in the area at the time, or who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident, to come forward. Anyone with video footage from security cameras, doorbell cameras or dash cameras is encouraged to upload it at alexandriapdva.evidence.com.
