One dead, juvenile injured in N. Patrick Street shooting

Alexandria Police investigating Wednesday evening incident; increased patrols planned

An adult man is dead, and a juvenile male was injured in a shooting on Wednesday evening, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 900 block of N. Patrick Street at approximately 6:36 p.m., police said in a news release issued late Wednesday night. Upon arrival, they found both victims inside an apartment building suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to a local hospital, where the adult male later died from his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives with APD’s Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating and are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, police said.

APD said it will increase patrols in the area and engage with community members as the investigation continues.
