ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The city's annual RecFest returns to the Patrick Henry Recreation Center this Saturday for its 10th anniversary, offering Alexandria families a free, four-hour preview of the recreation, parks, and cultural programs available across the city — and a chance to register for summer camps on-site.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4653 Taney Ave. and is open to all ages. Admission is free.
This year's milestone edition will feature interactive games and hands-on activities, a DJ, food, and live demonstrations from instructors and staff across the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities. Other city departments will set up engagement tables. Families will also be able to sign up for summer camps and recreation programs on the spot — a useful window for parents weighing options before registration deadlines.
"For a decade, RecFest has connected the community through active play, creativity, and shared experiences," the department said in announcing the anniversary event last week.
Patrick Henry Recreation Center, part of the rebuilt Patrick Henry K-8 campus, includes indoor running and walking lanes, a flex court for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, and multipurpose rooms for fitness, arts and soft play.
