ACT for Alexandria's annual Spring2ACTion giving day returns Wednesday, April 22, with a goal of engaging 10,000 donors and raising $2.5 million for 191 local nonprofit organizations.
Now in its 16th year, Spring2ACTion is the only citywide giving day in the region. Last year, nearly 8,000 donors raised a record $3.1 million for more than 190 participating organizations. Since its founding in 2011, the event has raised more than $26 million for the Alexandria nonprofit community.
This year's campaign comes as local nonprofits face mounting pressure — navigating increased demand for services alongside funding challenges and reduced capacity.

"Spring2ACTion is an example of how our community comes together to support the organizations that care for our neighbors," said Heather Peeler, president and CEO of ACT for Alexandria. "When we strengthen our nonprofit sector, we strengthen the economic well-being of Alexandrians. Every gift matters, no matter the size."
Participating organizations serve a broad range of needs, from housing and food assistance to workforce development, healthcare, arts and culture, animal care, and environmental conservation.
Early giving opens on Wednesday, April 8 at spring2action.org, where donors can search by cause or organization and give from any device. Last year, one in four gifts was $25 or less — a reminder that small contributions add up. "When we give together, on the same day, for our community, that message resonates loudly," Peeler said.
Presenting sponsors include Amazon and the City of Alexandria. The Alexandria Brief is a media partner for Spring2ACTion.
