St. Elmo's Coffee Pub will temporarily close its flagship location at 2300 Mount Vernon Ave. beginning Monday as the beloved neighborhood café undergoes a long-anticipated refresh, according to an announcement posted to the shop's Instagram account Thursday morning.
The closure, set to begin March 9, is billed by ownership as a short break to "spruce things up" ahead of what they're calling "the next chapter" for the 30-year-old establishment.
"30 years of coffee & community calls for a refresh," the post read.
The Del Ray shop is the original location among three St. Elmo's outposts in Alexandria. PCG Restaurant Group, which owns and operates the brand, has since expanded to Old Town North at 529 Montgomery St. and Fairlington at 1536 Kenwood Ave., both of which are expected to remain open during the closure.
Regulars looking to get their fix in the meantime won't have to travel far. St. Elmo's will operate a pop-up at Piece Out, PCG Restaurant Group's Italian-American restaurant at 2419 Mt. Vernon Ave, during the closure. The Alexandria-based group also runs Cafe Pizzaiolo and Market2Market in Del Ray.
No reopening date has been announced.
