Alexandria police on Friday identified the man killed in a Wednesday evening shooting as Marquette Holmes, 27, of Washington, D.C.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 900 block of N. Patrick St. at approximately 6:36 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, they found Holmes and a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside an apartment building. Both were transported to local hospitals, where Holmes died. The juvenile was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Police said they have increased patrols in the area, and detectives continue to talk with neighbors and collect evidence.
Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area of N. Patrick and N. Alfred streets between 2-7 p.m. Wednesday to submit doorbell or dash camera video or photos to the department’s public evidence portal at alexandriapdva.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/900npatrick in reference to case No. 26-007165.
