ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., won a fourth six-year term Tuesday, defeating Republican Bert Mizusawa, according to The Associated Press.
The AP declared Warner the winner at 7 p.m., as polls closed. The news drew cheers at Warner's election night event at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center on Seminary Road.
Warner is expected to speak at about 8:15 p.m., his campaign said in an email to reporters. Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, House Speaker Don Scott, Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi, Reps. James Walkinshaw and Don Beyer, and Eliza Warner are scheduled to speak before him, in that order, according to a program the campaign provided to reporters.
