Good afternoon, Alexandria. Welcome to The Weekend Brief. I’m Ryan Belmore, and the holiday season officially kicks off this weekend with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday evening in Market Square.
Between farmers markets, a cider festival, turkey trots, and plenty of live music across the city, there’s something for everyone November 21-23.

Weekend Weather
According to the National Weather Service, Alexandria’s weekend weather begins Friday with cloudy skies and a chance of rain after 1 p.m., with highs near 57° and a 40% chance of precipitation. Rain becomes likely Friday night with lows around 49° and an 80% chance of precipitation that could bring a quarter to half inch of rainfall.
Saturday morning may see lingering showers before 1 p.m., then conditions improve to partly sunny skies with highs near 59°. Saturday night turns partly cloudy with lows dropping to 34°.
Sunday looks pleasant with sunny skies and highs near 55°, followed by mostly clear conditions Sunday night with lows around 39°.
