What's happening this weekend in Alexandria: Dec. 27-28

Here's how to make the most of your weekend.

Table of Contents

After a whirlwind fall packed with festivals, parades, and holiday festivities, Alexandria is catching its breath this weekend, and frankly, we’ve earned it.

Saturday looks crisp and pleasant, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s, though you’ll want to bundle up against those northerly gusts. Sunday brings cloudier conditions and a slight chance of afternoon rain, so keep an umbrella handy if you’re heading out later in the day.

While the calendar isn’t quite as jam-packed as weeks past, there’s still plenty to do around town. The farmers’ markets are keeping their winter hours in Old Town, Del Ray, and the West End. Cameron Run’s Ice & Lights continues its daytime and evening skating sessions both days. And the live music scene remains as lively as ever, from a free comedy night at Port City Brewing to Maysa’s Christmas show at The Birchmere.

ACPS students are still on winter break, so it’s a perfect time for families to catch the Kids’ Winter Movie Mornings at the library or try something cozy like a chunky knit blanket workshop.

Here’s your full guide to everything happening in Alexandria this weekend. And one more thing—if you head to something you find on this list, be sure to tell the organizers you found out about it on The Alexandria Brief!
