ALEXANDRIA, Va. — An Alexandria woman who led the FBI's since-dissolved Foreign Influence Task Force and a second former senior bureau official were charged with making false statements to Congress about their involvement in the FBI's investigations into Hunter Biden, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced Friday.

Nikki Cole Floris, 46, of Alexandria, and Bradley Benavides, 56, of Aiken, South Carolina, surrendered Friday on arrest warrants issued after a criminal complaint charged them, according to a news release from the office. Each is charged with making false statements in a matter within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001(a)(2), the release says.

Floris' attorneys denied the allegation in a statement reported by The Associated Press.
